The best soup I've ever had to this date is from a small restaurant in the rural south of France that used only locally farmed ingredients and specialized in "slow food"...whatever that is. It was a butternut squash veloute with saffron and garlic foam.
I know that description makes it sounds super pretentious...and it kind of was...but my god, what an incredibly delicious soup. I've never had anything like it.
