Hmmm. I recall it in 2000 as both he and Gore being bland personality wise in the election. That it was kind of a push as an issue. Gore certainly had the dork vibe down, but I recalled Bush as not very personable either due to the constant bumbling during appearances and also the fact that he was from such wealth.
While he certainly would have won the beer issue with most, (over Gore and Kerry I would say. boy the Dems have had some stinker candidates in terms of personality) I didn't recall it as having much factor in those campaigns.
