Voted neutral. I'm cautiously optimistic that the organization was looking for a deal somewhere in the weeds. In recent memory the big acquisitions on deadline day are not players that change your franchise. Frankly, if I was Brad I would be speaking to my pro and amateur scouts for ideas on players that could be had at the deadline without breaking the bank or sacrificing the run. That's a tall order so I can understand if he misses on this one.
While I think this roster is the best that they have had in years and are looking to take a run, it would be foolish to think that this team will instantly have the horses in the playoffs by any of the deadline deals done in the last week. Our team will or will not make a splash in the playoffs because of the existing core.
I would be interested to hear from people who have actively watched him recently. Seems equivalent to a 2nd round pick.
