It will not surprise me if Wideman gets traded (and I think he has been if I am inferring what Leslie says is correct, and that Leslie actually knows something), that the Flames will immediately announce a trade involving Iginla.
Whatever we get for Wideman goes to Iginla's acquisition - which won't be much. With Stone and some more depth on D (Bartkowski added to Jokipakka, Kulak, Wotherspoon), I think this trade becomes essentially a lateral one. I would have said it was a downgrade a few weeks ago, as depth defencemen are more important than depth forwards in the playoffs, but now I think it is irrelevant. Now it is depth defencemen vs addressing a need for more grit.
Makes sense for me (and no, I do not think for an instant Colorado trades Iginla for Wideman - Wideman goes somewhere else for something, and the Flames send out that something - or rough equivalent - for Iginla).
