Well to counter some revisionist history on the Feaster era here's some good things he did:
Idc what anyone says, Bouwmeester was addition by subtraction. And he still netted a 1st round pick and prospects. And if you're not going to give Feaster credit for his good draft picks you have to concede that the scouting could have done better with the Poirier pick.
The Erixson fiasco is still paying small dividends with Shinkaruk. And turned Horak into a Smid.
Signed Jiri freaking Hudler. No small coincidence that Monahan and Gaudreau had their best seasons under the tutelage of Hudler.
The Lankow trade for stempniak was good.
Let the scouts do their jobs when it came to the draft. That in of itself should be considered competent usage of all the tools at the fingers of a GM.
The Bourque to MTL for cammy trade. Again being severely overlooked as that was a brilliant trade that also brought in some fans favorite, Kari Ramo.
The Janko draft was good. Even if today it only looks like Chiasson and Janko,Gillies, Kulak, Culkin,
Even if it looks bad now, the Wideman sign and trade was a good move as Widemans best year legged the Files through to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Kris Russell.
Edit: Hiring Bob Hartley. Another key element to the development and the paychecks of Johnny and monny.
End of the day, Feaster built much of the Foundation Treliving is working towards making a contender. Hate the Richards and O'Reilly fiascos all you want, he's done the flames a greater service than harm.
