Speculation: Ben Bishop trade for Draft Pick and Elliott or Johnson
Just had a thought, hearing that Treliving was still kicking tires on goaltenders got me thinking, would anyone have any interest in acquiring Ben Bishop for a draft pick and one of Brian Elliott or Chad Johnson?
I think this deal solves 2 problems:
1) The Flames could use an upgrade in goal as we'd be acquiring a former Vezina finalist and playoff tested goaltender
2) Tampa doesn't want to let Bishop walk for free ( Tampa receives a 1A/1B for their push to the playoffs and a draft pick)
I like the idea of testing out Ben Bishop to see if he'd be a suitable fit here before we end up handing out a long term deal for him in the summer.
We already owe St. Louis a 3rd in 2018 if we re-sign Elliott, why not use that pick to instead acquire a proven #1 for the rest of this season and, if all goes well maybe we can re-sign him to a long term extension.
