If asked the last few days I would have said that I was going to stick with it. My new plan was to keep at it with the realization that I would likely never have a long term person I could speak Japanese with. But the more I think about it, the less I like that idea. I'm the kind of person who likes to try and keep in touch with people (some, not all). And the idea of constantly trying to find someone to speak with, every few months, so I can practice is a lot of extra work I don't think I'm up for. Another reason for me wanting to learn the language was because I someday hoped to visit Japan. It is still tops on my list but now seems less and less likely that will ever happen for several reasons I won't get into here.

I enjoy learning Japanese and it makes me happy to be able to read and hear some things and understand. I'm proud of myself for coming this far and teaching myself to read/write 2 of the 3 alphabets and a handful of the Kanji. But I'm thinking now that it might be time for me to move on to something else.

I'll be keeping my books though. I might change my mind again tomorrow.
