This ties in to the earlier point that politics isn't a big deal in the lives of average Americans. They don't care about what goes on in Washington, in newspaper offices or the UN. They just want to make decent money to live decent lives. Both parties have let them down, and they haven't realized it yet, but both parties will continuously let them down again. They're just stuck in the middle of all of this.
It's all well and good for people like me to question how they could vote for this imbecile, but they don't care about him making fun of the disabled, or being rude to reporters or whether he fully divests or not, they just want to be able to make good living.
(Not saying I can fully dismiss my qualms about the way they voted, just that it's a good exercise to try to understand why)

yup, even though Trump is not the solution, he addressed the problems that people wanted to hear. Along with 'Crooked Hillary' and the democrats are elitists.
1. Inner-Cities
2. Jobs
3. Illegal Immigration
This are big issues that need to be solved. Trump addressed these issues (no matter how falsely). Hillary did as well but not enough to rally her base.
