I also wouldn't worry too much about taking all the clothes you need for everything. Since you said you'll be going to Europe, and for up to a year, I would just plan on buying some of the clothes you need there.
If you're shopping in the non-touristy areas, it's a good way to meet locals as well, which I assume you want to do since you said you'll be traveling alone.
