Actually, Ikea utilizes a global supplier base that doesn't necessarily focus on one region (ie China per se). Quite an interesting value and logistics chain they're built, and it's been the subject of many a business case. Although a lot of stuff comes from China for Ikea, there is actually a significant part coming from Eastern European countries.
Next time you're in the self-serve warehouse, look at the little white labels, they all list the place of manufacture for the item and they're all quite different.
Although I have to say, everytime I build furniture from them I wonder at how much can be done with the power of 1 inch wooden dowels! That's the foundation for all their stuff I swear! It's like some sort of Swedish Grand Unification Theory! Forget Einstein, we've got wooden dowels!
