When one key player is not playing well, it's probably the player.
When ALL your key players are struggling, it's probably something else.
Don't underestimate the effect a coach can have on a player. Look at Crosby whose production dropped off massively under Johnston, only to return to his normal after the hiring of Sullivan. And team performance followed that.
I just don't this GG is a fit for this team. It is alarming how many players are regressing under his tenure.

Regressing? Or young players are going through growing pains, Gio is older and not at the same offensive level he was at 2 years ago. He wasn't their last year either. Take away Bobs run and gun system and you obviously have regressions. But you did not mention how Frolik, Backlund, Hamilton, Stajan (to a lesser extent, playing much better than under Hartley) are all having career years while Tkachuk is tracking to have a 50pt+ rookie season as a teenager. The Crosby situation is not relatable whatsoever. Crosby is already the finish product, a supreme hockey player. Johnny, Monahan, and Bennett are still developing. Johnny is in his 3rd year of professional hockey. He was bound to go through a slump or 2. Give it time and stop overreacting. Johnny has to adjust his game and you can already tell he is trying to. Teams are trying to make him uncomfortable and have played him enough to know his tendencies. He will figure it out and he will figure out how to produce under GG. Like I said before he's too damn skilled no to.
