I think you're underestimating just how much Wideman has regressed over the last 2 years. I mean, you may have a point about Bartkowski being worse than Wideman last year when Bartkowski was with the Nucks, but Wideman has regressed even more since that point in time.
So, you may wonder then, 'well if that's the case why are they still playing Wideman? Why don't they play someone from Stockton' The only answer I can give to that is they're trying to give the old Widedog one last kick at the can in his NHL career to prove he's got anything hint of something good left to give.

And Bartkowski hasn't regressed from his crappy season with the Canucks a year ago? He was on pace for about the same stats but in Providence!
Wideman has stats right now at 50 games that are as good as or better than Barkowski's over an entire season with Vancouver. Same thing last year over 51 games. Including defensive stats.
