I think the expansion draft is handcuffing the Flames from bringing in a legit 3-4 dman and they are forced to play it out with Wideman.

I think for the most part he can play the position when he works in a small area (hence his PK time). His problem is when he gets exposed, he really gets exposed. It is really too bad that the Kulaks, Wotherspoons, or Kevins haven't been able to push him out of that 4 spot considering his warts. You can't spend a lot of assets (which it would take) to replace him right now with the expansion draft on the horizon.

At the end of the day it can be frustrating but you have to remember the team is really young. They are a bubble team when things have probably not clicked the majority of the season. You probably have at least 4 core members that are struggling a bit this season. With a bit more consistency, which I think will come as the players develop, this team will get better.
