Nobody forgot anything. Let's look back at last year, shall we?
Gaudreau 30g, 78pts in 79gp.
This year, wouldn't even crack 20g and 65pts if he played 82gp
Monahan 27g, 63pts in 81gp
This year, maybe he gets 50 pts
Giordano was a 56 pt Dman and top 10 Dman
This year he might get 32 points
Brodie got 45pts and was a possession beast
This year he's a -25 with maybe 32 points
Sam Bennett was a respectable 18 goal scorer as a rookie
This year he's regressed and might get 14
People might point to Backlund and say "hey, he's having a career year!". Well he's on pace for 54 points, which is only 7 more than what he got last year. And sadly, his 54 points would lead the team.
The only thing people need to remember about last year is that Nicklas Backstrom got 4 starts (even though he was an abysmal .881 goalie) because Hiller and Ramo averaged 0.892 between the two of them.
