Mediterranea is Elrafih's latest idea, a cafe-bakery-deli-culinary shop based on the products of Mediterranean nations. The owner of the popular -- and slightly bizarre -- A&A Foods & Deli (1401 20th Ave. N.W., 289-1400) spent much of last year travelling through the Middle East and southern Europe and saw many things he wanted to bring back to Calgary for his new shop. Like a nut roaster.
Yes, A&A has gone uptown. For those who have visited A&A and endured the lineups, sometimes winding onto the sidewalk outside, the addition has come none too soon. Renowned for its "roasted with love" shawarma, A&A, for all its funky glory, has pretty much reached capacity.
