...why are people still talking about trading Giordano?

Subtract Giordano and we're not going to improve next year. There's no one better in free agency, Vegas isn't going to have anything better to give us, and no one in the league is trading top pairing d-men.

Giordano is our captain, and is still playing at a high level. He and Hamilton are one of the absolute best pairings in the entire league - trading Giordano is madness.

Our defence is the way it is. Adding Kulikov or someone would be nice right now, but fairly foolish and risky from an asset management standpoint unless you're confident he has no desire to sign in Vegas or anywhere else - and even then, there can be no behind closed doors agreements because like Sureloss mentioned earlier, the league has already spoken out saying they will be monitoring such things closely (...who knows what that will look like - but it's still a risk).
