There are reports that shots have been fired in a serious situation unfolding in Pincher Creek.
No injuries have been reported but RCMP are negotiating with a suspect located at a residence, according to a report from the Pincher Creek Echo.
Pincher Creek RCMP and an Emergency Response Team (ERT) unit of the RCMP are on the scene.
A spokesperson for RCMP was offering few details Wednesday morning but confirmed that police are dealing with a “dangerous situation involving a person” and are asking the public to remain clear of the area.
“It’s not involving a school, but there is a school in the vicinity that is taking some safety measures,” said Cpl. Laurel Scott, referring to unconfirmed reports that the incident is near Pincher Creek’s Matthew Halton High School.

An update is expected later today.
