with some objectiveness from another (Sureloss) knowing what I do now about Alzner and his familial connection to YYC, I understand now why he would perhaps chose Calgary over lets say, L.A. maybe..
For the argument of choosing Calgary over any other city however, I think we can all agree that Calgary is objectively nicer than Edmonton (Weather, layout/commute and more vibrant, maybe). But Alzner could be swayed to go to Edmonton as its close to Calgary and they are certainly the talk of the hockey world right now, more specifically a certain player is...
So, failing to get Alzner.. what do the Flames do? There is a premium being placed on Stone from ARZ..
I was starting to wonder about Eric Johnson (or a player of that ilk)from the Avs.. is there a deal there to be had?
I think the Flames need to look for a trade, not bank on a UFA signing that every other team will be looking for.
Edit: and I wanted to reach through my TV and punch Button in the head today as he is pushing the Sam Bennett for Matt Duchene narrative..
