It may not be ideal, but a viable third party would need big money and big time recognition to have a chance of being relevant. It can't be led by an idiot like Gary (sorry but a spade is a spade).
Put Leonardo DiCaprio (dodges rotten fruit thrown by Albertans) and Liz Warren/Bernie Sanders on the ticket of a third party...and you might have something.

Not without disbanding the electoral college first. You'd need the third party to take over the house or at the very least take a majority combined with one party. A "legitimate" third party would do nothing but give more power to the house since they could stop anyone from hitting 270.
