In terms of where to live, it all depends on what you need and what type of budget you're looking at. Also where you're going to be working is important. I personally like Northern Virginia the most. If you need some more space, check out the further out suburbs in Virginia or Maryland. They're all good areas, it just depends on what you want to spend and how close you want to be to DC. Whatever you do, though, don't live in SE DC. If you plan on living in the city, try to stay in the NW (which is actually the majority of the city).
