The best part of this night was the meal I had before at Amsterdam brew house, and catching up with an old friend who I don't see nearly enough.
The best way I can describe the flames tonight was it looked like they were just punching the time clock at the beginning and end of each shift. Brodie looked decent in person, but much like gaudreau or backlund carrying the puck into the offensive zone, he would get swarmed with no team mates in a position to support the puck and turn it over.
Defensively I thought they looked fine, not much you can do to defend the first goal, and Elliot was not great the rest of the way. Offensively they generated next to nothing, most shots were low quality scoring chances.
This team needs more jam in many areas of the game. The pushback for the hit on gaudreau was comical from gio going stars on ice during the fight (though at least he tried I guess) to chiasson leaping up and tapping komarov with his elbow (honestly if you're taking 2 minutes, at least get your money's worth)
If I had seasons tickets to this team and they went through the motions this much I would be pretty pissed off.
