Usually a Stanley Cup winning team is a perfect build. No bad trades, no bad hires, and decent drafting. Then it takes good depth and luck to get one cup out of it all. And then once the team gets a championship, they contend for a few years but usually not enough to win it again. And then they rebuild once the chase is hopeless..

I'm not sure the Flames have been perfect.

Now it's possible they can still be playoff contenders but winning a championship is hard. Very hard! And we've seen that the Flames have struggled at the GM position since Sutter with imperfections.

1) Sutter couldn't draft
2) Feaster couldn't trade
3) Treliving can't hire

I think the fact that the Flames have a terrible goalie coach, a very inconsistent special teams coach, and a poor head coach, the odds of a championship is stacking against them during this build. Given that this roster is a product of all mentioned managers, I think there's been too many mistakes over the years to honestly believe the Flames have made all the right moves during this rebuild
