this is a classic case time blurring memory.
The flames were freaking awful to watch when they were getting blown out early and often, were generating less shots than they have this season and were hemmed in their own zone for entire shifts.
Here's a fun little trip down memory lane from late October of last year.
Look familiar? A lot of what people see as hustle last year was Flames players chasing the puck around the ice as the other team completed passing plays up and down the ice.
Hartley's team ####ing sucked to watch, it was easily more frustrating than the hockey we're watching right now and some of the same people who think Gulutzan should be fired now thought Hartley should be fired then.
This team is having trouble scoring 5-5 because the team doesn't have the offensive talent to score and pass 5-5 and it was the exact same story last year and it will be the exact same story as long as the Flames are Dennis Wideman and Ladislav Smid and Lance Bouma the type of money that should be reserved for top end, productive players.
