That means we have a very very small sample size of his draft prowess as well as limited info on his trades. His record in contract negotiation is still to play out as well since we are in year 1 of his 3 biggest deals.
Changing GM's is a huge deal in this game as it means a start over (of varying degrees) every time. Every guy who gets the opportunity to do so wants to at least get 5 years of picks to see who develops and who doesnt. Wants his own guy behind the bench for more than 50 games to see if that guys abilities translate to the group of guys he has....as well as his farm system and the hires of coaching made there... Etc Etc

By that logic shouldn't the flames have kept feaster in the first place? The oilers should have kept Mactavish?
I don't know if they'll get it right, but I think the flames can make an informed decision after three years.
