From my viewing / observation of the game (which obviously means this is nothing more than an opinion) I think he has always made tones of terrible errors and plays. Collectively his stats may not back that up, but that to me was because he was playing with Gio who was covering up a lot of his issues.
The lack of a Norris candidate partner and less offensive production is the result of what we are seeing this year in my opinion. Part of why I think he'll be better if we can get him a true top 4 partner. Again, I really hope your assessment is right and mine is wrong, would love for Brodie to be a Norris candidate having an off year.
