Actually yes, he did come back and said " we suck and we don't care". He proved that he himself doesn't care by telling fans not to be concerned about inferior product. He towed the Rogers company line like a good little foot soldier. His exact response was "Don't be worried about the inferior product the company I work for is presenting to you, be more concerned that the team on the ice isn't very good and ignore that our presentation of said team is inferior to our presentation of the other teams we broadcast for".
A good employee who cared about their company and the clients they served would have brought the issue to the forefront and at the very least provided the contact information as to who fans should be contacting. He would have taken the issue to his producers, asked here for examples they could look at and if/when all efforts on Sportsnet's side were exhausted he'd provide the next direction fans could move to have the issue resolved.
Instead he came back and said "it's not that big a deal, be more worried about the Flames on-ice play than hearing sounds before seeing the accompanying picture." His response was exactly what Sportsnet's response has been for a half-decade. They don't care because they know Flames fans don't have any real other option. They shovel out crap and expect us to eat it or starve.
That's why we get Eric Francis during intermissions. That's why the picture quality for the same game broadcast on another Rogers territory has lower picture quality. That's why we get McDived commercials thanking us for making them the #1 sports network because we don't have any other real choice. And the Flames are just as complicit in this as Rogers. Neither organization cares.
