What I think is different this year, is under GGs system, he's not as greenlit, or is struggling to get as greenlit in teh offensive zone. So we aren't seeing the great offensive plays and production from him as we did previously, which made us forget about his defensive short comings. I worry that Brodie maybe simply isn't as good as we thought prior.
All that said, I still think he's a top 4 guy on a great contract, just maybe not the budding Norris candidate we thought he might be. I still think given the contract, what we need is to find him a better partner and he might start to play and contribute a little more.

Brodie was not a defensive liability last season. The defensive end was one of his biggest strengths... he was often a plus player when the rest of the team was not. His numbers back it up... even though analytics can't prove everything, his numbers were on par with Pieterangelo IIRC.
