Honestly one of the best things I saw out of Gaudreau last night was when he got crosschecked in the corner and instead of looking to the ref he just started crosschecking back. Pretty hard too, almost like he was challenging the ref to call him after not calling it against him. That intensity was good to see and using the fire from being taken advantage of.

The refs need to start getting this right, but if they don't there isn't an option for him. It's either let it get to him or fight through it and use it. I think last night he took a big step in just saying "F it, lets go!" and I thought he had a good night because of it, even if he didn't hit the scoreboard.

That's all well and good, but I still maintain after watching these recent games, that isn't the major factor that sticks out for discussion sake.

If you come away from watching a game like last night first and foremost with the attitude "Gaudreau needs to stop complaining about the blatant attempts to injure him" as your talking point over "The NHL officials are a joke and our star player is going to be injured - again - because of their outright negligence"... you need to get your priorities straight (not saying you in specific).

The negligence on the part of the officials is THAT bad at this point.
