3) Why another identical slow start to last year? We are chasing Edmonton and that is a team we have lost 3 games to. If we don't make playoffs, bad goaltending and poor coaching decisions combined with a slow start will be a factor.

4) The trading of Sven & Granlund, Bollig to the minors, Mason Raymond buyout's and other moves will all be considered when it comes time for a contract extension.
1. Extending Hartley was done on the basis of his one great year, Firing him was on the basis of a very subpar year. I'm pretty sure he had ownership's blessing.

2. Comparing draft picks from one year to the next is futile. The choices are different, the drafting spots are different. Anyway, the key scouting staff is still there.

3. This start is miles ahead of last year, even with the terrible first couple weeks. Have a look at the snake topic. This year much more resembles the playoff year in terms of wins and losses at this point. Two of the losses to Edmonton came in the first week when things were bad. They could easily have won the last one.

4. Well obviously everything will be "considered" by owners when dealing with an extension. But Sven demanded a trade and got a good return, Granlund was squeezed out and got a good return, Bollig earned his demotion, Mason Raymond earned a buyout. Yeah, he signed those two but name a gm who doesn't have a few bad contracts (you can add Bouma, I guess).
