There are other items that Flames ownership would look at it and it would include things such as
1) Why extend, pretend and then fire Hartley? That is costing ownership cash this year
2) What have Treleving's draft picks done vs the contribution that Feaster have done?
3) Why another identical slow start to last year? We are chasing Edmonton and that is a team we have lost 3 games to. If we don't make playoffs, bad goaltending and poor coaching decisions combined with a slow start will be a factor.
4) The trading of Sven & Granlund, Bollig to the minors, Mason Raymond buyout's and other moves will all be considered when it comes time for a contract extension.
For full disclosure I do think he has earned himself another contract with the Flames. He has done great work here but there are some glaring mistakes too. The most surprising mistakes are ones I would have thought Brian Burke would have stepped in to help protect.
I have said it before and I will say it again, Treleving has got the bigger things right when it comes to the team but filling in some of the blank's with the smaller pieces haven't gone nearly as well. We will see what happens but at the end of the day President and GM will be judged by the results to ensure they are earning their muli-million dollar contracts.
