Can't be satisfied with just defunding Planned Parenthood, preventing not only some abortions but inhibiting women from having access to prenatal care, access to birth control (which will no longer need to be fully covered by insurance), access to cancer screenings, STD testing, breast exams. Not just satisfied with allowing insurance companies from refusing to insure a woman because they can consider pregnancy a "pre-existing condition."

No, now we also have to attempt to effectively outlaw abortion entirely.

This just keeps getting more and more depressing. At this point Trump the madman isn't as concerning as this current group of legislators--because even if Trump goes, these guys stick around, with Pence at the helm who is as conservative as they come.

Impeachment can stop the harm Trump might do. Impeachment does sweet eff all to protect women's rights in this country.
I mentioned this repeatedly during the election. As big an ####### that Trump is, he really is a distraction to the things going on that really matter. Congress is where things matter. Because congress has the power to make law. The president doesn't. And this is a problem because congress is driven by ideology, and is bought and sold by special interests.

This bill is a travesty, and will be passed, basically outlawing abortion and pushing the United States backward 70 years. This bill is a social death sentence for any woman who gets knocked up without money to support herself and her baby, that will now be a burden on both the mother and society. This is horrible on so many levels that I can't believe anyone with a brain would support it.

But a bill that was recently defeated is a much more worrisome and a bellwether moment. Look at the bill voted down which would allow Americans access to cheap drugs through Canadian suppliers. There were many Dems who supported this bill, including Cory Booker, a guy many consider the future of the Democratic party. Why did he vote against it? Because he's in the pocket of Big Pharma. To me, this was the indication of how screwed we are.

I will say there is one hope left for the average guy. Demand a constitutional amendment allowing for the recall of representatives, both in the House and Senate. Put these clowns we send to Washington on notice that they answer to the people, and when they don't perform according to our demands, they will lose their jobs and access to power. That is our last hope. If we can't get that done, we're screwed. For good.
