You do understand that the Flames will lose one player. They are going to lose one player. If the team is so confident that it will be Ferland, and they don't want to lose him, they can take preventative measures to protect him from being selected by offering up compensation to Las Vegas to not select Ferland. If they are okay with that, they will sit on him knowing his selection likely protects players they don't want to lose. It is all dependent on how the Flames feel about Ferland, and if he is in their plans long term. One thing I am certain about, they will not move a player just because they might lose him to Vegas. Unless they get something back in trade they really want, they would just be guaranteeing themselves of losing two players - Ferland and then the other guy that Vegas will pick from our roster.

Personally, I think the Flames are high on Ferland, and with good reason. He is a guy that provides a physical presence and can play the game of hockey. He can play up and down the lineup and not hurt you. Guys like that are quite valuable and you don't let them go easy. So the suggestion that Ferland could get traded is not crazy. I think other teams around the league see the value in him as well.

What I don't think is the Flames will move him because they are afraid to lose him in the expansion draft. If they know of certain that Las Vegas is going to select Ferland that is money in the bank. They can then plan accordingly and back themselves up at that position knowing he is the one on the way out. Having that knowledge is very beneficial going forward, but I'm pretty confident in saying that Las Vegas has not even begun piecing their list of players they are certain to pick as there is much that can happen with teams exposure lists. Teams could do something crazy and expose a couple big contracts of veterans they don't think fit long term, giving Vegas access to some name players who could immediately make them competitive. We don't know, because teams haven't released those lists yet. I find it hard to believe that Las Vegas is losing any sleep worrying about who Calgary is protecting.

Nobody wants him gone for nothing but it's a possibility. Stop trying to dramatize posts because the Scorpion made them.
Stupid posts get called out. The person in question makes an incredible number of stupid posts. He draws attention to himself. He gets called out because of it.
