Because of all the possible players who are going to be available, Ferland is the one likely to get picked that doesn't really hurt this team. They aren't going to be picking Bouma or any other forward that will be available. And while our d-men who are going to be available aren't the greatest I would rather keep the depth on D with Jokipakka and Kulak and give up Ferland who has been inconsistent his entire tenure with Calgary.
Nobody wants to lose Ferland for nothing, if we can get value for him then great but I see nothing wrong with wanting him to be picked up by Vegas because then it means they can't pick any of our d-men.
And Ferland shows up for 2-3 games then disappears and thinks he more skilled than he is for 10-15 games. Rinse and repeat. It's been like that since he's been a Flame. I rather upgrade his spot in the lineup for someone much more consistent. When he's on, I'm his biggest fan. He plays great and contributes to the team but as we have seen he is very inconsistent and has something like 10 career NHL goals. That's not good enough for a guy who gets as many minutes as he does. He's gone 5-6 games without even a shot on net.
