I excuse in advance for my English. I have a question regarding the individual trophies. Why do we actually care that much? I mean trophies in general, I'm not talking about Tkachuk for Calder.
Last season NHL fans in Sweden went berserk about the Doughty vs Karlsson. For what good? I don't think less of Karlsson because he lost.
Most of the nomination have the same discussion year after year; Bergeron or Kopitar for Selke? Can you win Hart or Norris if your team doesn't reach the Playoffs? Do the voters watch western teams? What is the definition of MVP? How is it possible that it is the GMs that decide who will win the Vezina?
My point is that (for me) it doesn't matter who wins the awards. The only thing that matters is how the team performs. I will enjoy every game Tkachuk play for the Flames regardless if he wins the Calder or not. Most likely a Calder winner can demand a bigger salary when that day comes, no?
Would like to hear what you guys have to say about this. Explain the hype for a Swedish Flame
