In fact why not take a 5 year hiatus from peacekeeping abroad and put every single one of our troops into the police force and try and take a real chunk out of violent crime.

I agree we should fight violence but resources have to be allocated appropriately. If youth crime isn't up (which it's not), then we shouldn't focus so much on "kids these days" as many people often do. It only distracts from the realities of crime in our society and wastes our efforts on fighting a mythical increase in a certain type of crime, rather then the real increasing problems.
