I would assume the discussion died very quickly because Airdire and Okotoks are provincial voters, and the province controls they key road artery into the City.

I don't think the City has the power to institute a road toll on provincial roads without provincial support. Tolling Crowchild and Macleoud at the City limits may simply shift traffic and hurt Calgaryians.

Also, we are a prairie City, surrounded by township and range roads, many of which connect to our infrastructure. I imagine it would be hard to toll them all and people would go to great lengths to avoid tolls, causing unintended traffic impacts to area's of the City not meant to handle the new traffic.
