About 10 years ago someone floated the idea of charging out-of-towners more for using Calgary transit. Airdrie, Okotoks, etc. residents had a complete melt-down. They feel entitled to subsidized Calgary services even though they don't pay property tax here.

Airdrie, Okotoks, and Cochrane are the definition of parasite communities. I didn't really follow stuff like that back then as I was pretty young. Why did we care if they have a melt-down back then? What are they going to do? Stop coming into work and play in Calgary? Let them cry. If they don't like it, they can always just move to Calgary and start paying into our tax base. That may require them living in a house that actually fits their income level though.
