I owned the THX versions on VHS.

Buff, you're talking about the 6 disc special editions on DVD. 3 discs were the special editions. The other 3 discs was the originals with no remastering at all. Not even the aspect ratio was fixed so they displayed with black bars at the top and sides. I own that one too. You can have mine if you want. But I'd recommend the Despecialized Editions.

They are a work of love by some very dedicated Star Wars fans. Basically it is Bluray, or very close to bluray, quality versions of the movies, but remastered to be as close to the originals as possible. They are easy to find online, but there is no official release. My god they are glorious.
