Each arena has the choice of using either white or black. Most arenas use black, but a few (New Jersey and Philadelphia to name two) use the white.
When looking at the ice, they both pretty much disappear, but the white is a lot more noticeable against the darker crowd.
New Jersey, white netting...
New York, black netting...
