Whether he sold the call or not, you can't contact the goalie without someone pushing you in, and you definitely can't do it in the middle of the crease. The goalie is allowed his blue paint and you can't be there unless the puck is there...but you definitely can't crash into him and make contact with his head, allowing someone else to score.
Honestly, I'm for calling more goalie interference overall. I don't see the goalies getting enough protection at times, and when the call is this easy to make you just go with it and say "we'll get 'em next time".
