Meanwhile, not sure if this required its own thread or not- so a bit of a derail here in hopes to continue the thread. But on the radio the other day (105 I believe..) they were talking about on the drive to work how currently Calgary has 1,100 firefighters today- with a population of just over 1,000,000.
And that in 1980, the city had 1,000 firefighters. So lets see...
26 years.....100 new firefighters hired for a population increase of approximately 400,000 people...
they then moved onto to say that the City won't let the firehalls hire any possible new candidates, despite there being about 300 people ready to become new firefighters.
Something is screwed up here.
