I know what you mean about kids and garbage though...it does make you think about all those disposable diapers. But you contrast that with the water and energy usage of reusable ones, and there's no clear guidance for your average consumer.

I don't understand how there's no clear guidance. A load of laundry with white vinegar uses less energy than the manufacture of one Diaper. Factor in the non-biodegradability of commercial diapers and there's really no contest.
