As for what some may see as revolting opinions... fair enough. I'd argue that the bigotry label is unfair though. The church has a remarkable history and tradition of philosophical thought and scientific inquiry. The bishops stances are consistent with catholic perspectives of sexuality, sanctity of life etc. The bigotry label is used to just simply attempt to shut down debate and discredit opposing arguments while ignoring the philosophical and intellectual perspectives that underlie them.
