Yeah it is still too early to make a proclamation on Chychrun vs the d-men that were chosen ahead of him.
As I recall it, many felt he was the most NHL ready d-man in the draft. What caused him to fall was his poor draft year where he didn't look exceptional. This caused many scouts to question whether his ceiling was as high as others.
I mean Luke Schenn made the Leafs straight after being drafted and looked like the Leafs had hit a home run. Alex Pietrangelo taken a spot ahead of Schenn took 2 years after the 2009 draft to make Blues full time. Now in hindsight ask who NHL GMs would prefer.
It is great Chychrun is doing great, but way too early to make any conclusions about the 2016 draft.
