If you're Patricia or McDaniels, why not wait out Belichick? I suspect he walks away with Brady, so at most you're looking at 2-3 more years, and then taking over the NFL's best run franchise, possibly with Garoppolo ready to take over as a potential top QB. In the next 3 years, will there really be a better job than that? McDaniels or Patricia could leave for say Denver, do nothing in 3 years, get fired anyway, and then they're in the cycle of trying to get back into contention (in McDaniels case he's probably done as a HC candidate), instead of waiting for a near perfect situation. Will be interesting to see how they approach it.
