Let me get this straight.

Halak is a good goalie because of his career numbers: 388 GP, 2.43 GAA, .916 SV%.

In fact, he's a ‘better look’ than Elliott, despite the fact that Elliott's numbers are virtually identical – 340, 2.43, .913.

Perhaps this is because you don't like Elliott's numbers this season? 18 GP, 3.00, .893 – not good numbers, I'll give you that. But Halak this season is 21 GP, 3.23, .904, which is also pretty bad.

So you want to spend extra money to acquire Halak, and use up cap room that the team does not have, simply to make a sideways move in goal? Sounds legit.
