^if you look at deaths in isolation, sure. But comparing it to births and the number of celebrities 60-80 years ago (yes, I get Micheal is an outlier) vs the number of celebrities 100 years ago, is it that high a number? I'll be amazed if the next 10-20 years are much better than 2016.
It's not a coincidence we have more celebrity deaths as we approach the 52-70 year mark of the baby boomers...
