I'm all for how the Jays handled it. By some accounts the Jays said they were going to move fast and EE's agent thought they were bluffing. Jays made true on their word and signed Morales. Despite the Morales signing Edwin's agent decided to still gauge the market and the Jays did what they needed to do. How much would all of us be bitching if Edwin, Jose or Kendry's didn't sign because the Jays were holding because of Edwin? Hindsight is great but the Jays needed to do what they needed to do and the truth is that Edwin and his agent can say whatever they want, but they were simply looking for the best deal, and it didn't matter if it came from the Jays. The Jays made a compelling offer. EE and agent wanted to explore options, got greedy, probably never did their proper homework before hand to gauge other teams' interest, and they got burned. The precedent this will set for the future is that the Jays will likely make a very good offer, and if you don't make a loyal move, they will in fact move on.
I'm not happy with this years' team so far (compared to last season), but this off-season is still months away from being complete. I'm willing to see what management has in their plans before really passing judgement.
