I think it's because the position is so on an island, it's such a cerebral game. Like pitchers or golfers, sometimes they just get a case of the yips (usually confidence-based to some extent). And in some cases, it never goes away.
I feel bad for Elliott, really hoping he find his game and can run with it for a bit. He's been better lately, but needs to stop letting in the odd Osgood special.
