Sucks to lose, but the Flames aren't too far away from being good enough to win in a 7 game series with a cup contending Sharks team. Perfect penalty kill, shut down San Jose's top players, and had a couple stretches where the Flames did dictate play. Monahan looked good, I noticed both Frolik and Ferland with dynamic shifts, and Backlund had at least 2 beastly shifts that the hockey gods could have been a bit more generous on. Tkachuk continues to look like a veteran. I liked that Gaudreau wasn't given the keys to do as he pleased double shifting when we 'needed some offense', he is guilty of the juiciest giveaways on a regular basis and there are games I'm happy he just keeps a spot in the regular rotation. Anyway, I'm not too deterred by this one, we lost to a team with better depth and home cooked officiating.
